In a recent prep game for World Cup 2023, Kusal Mendis turned things around after his prior low score of 22 against Bangladesh. Stepping up in Guwahati, Mendis showcased his skills against Afghanistan with a brilliant performance. His energy was clearly seen when he confidently faced Afghan players like Azmatullah Omarzai, spinners Noor Ahmed, Rashid Khan, and not to forget, young Abdul Rahman. From Rahman alone, Mendis scored a whopping 30 runs in 10 balls!

Reaching a century in just 59 balls, Mendis ended with a powerful 158 runs, guiding Sri Lanka to a comfortable 270 runs by the 39th over.

In earlier warm-up matches, Sri Lanka faced a setback, losing to Bangladesh. However, their game against Afghanistan was the last practice match before they kickstart their journey in the 2023 World Cup, to be held in Delhi.

Fans are eagerly waiting for their game against South Africa, set to happen at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 7. Everyone’s excited to see what Sri Lanka brings to the table this time!
