In the recent Asian Games T20I held in Hangzhou, China, Rinku Singh showcased his prowess during India’s match against Nepal on Tuesday, October 3. Building on the momentum from his maiden international series in Ireland, Rinku displayed a breathtaking performance, scoring an unbeaten 37 runs off just 15 balls.

Coming in as the sixth batsman, the dynamic player from Uttar Pradesh didn’t waste time in displaying his power-hitting skills. He toyed with the Nepalese bowlers, especially in the last three overs. Rinku hit four sixes, with two consecutive ones in the crucial last over bowled by Abhinash Bohara.

In what can be termed as a game-changing moment, Rinku’s onslaught during the last over ensured India posted a formidable total of 202/4 in 20 overs.

While Yashavi Jaiswal’s century was notable, India’s final score might not have surpassed 180 on the batsman-friendly ground had it not been for Rinku’s timely performance.

He kicked off his show with a six in both the 18th and 19th overs, accelerating even more in the final over. Among the sixes he played, two of them truly highlighted his exceptional talent.

Rinku’s knock proved vital as Nepal, despite being relatively inexperienced, pressed the Indian bowlers hard, falling short by only 23 runs.

With his consistent performances, Rinku is emerging as a promising candidate for India’s T20I squad. As the preparations for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean & USA intensify, players with the caliber to score big in the final overs could be pivotal for team success.
