Badminton Asia Championships 2023: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty qualify for the semi-finals.

On April 28th, the Al Nasr Club’s Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor Hall in Dubai hosted the Badminton Asia Championships 2023, which saw several Indian shuttlers participate in various matches.

In the men’s doubles event, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were the only Indian duo to qualify for the semi-finals, where they faced Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan from Indonesia. The Indian pair emerged victorious with a score of 21-11 and 21-12.

Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor competed in a mixed doubles match, but they had a tough time against their Indonesian counterparts. Despite winning the second game, they eventually lost the match 21-18, 19-21, and 21-15.

Unfortunately, PV Sindhu lost her women’s singles quarter-final match to South Korea’s An Se-young. Sindhu won the first game 21-18, but she lost the last two sets, with scores of 5-21 and 9-21, respectively.

During his quarter-final match against Japan’s Kanta Tsuneyama, Prannoy HS retired due to an injury he sustained in the second game. Tsuneyama had won the first game 21-11, and the score was 9-13 in favor of Tsuneyama when Prannoy got injured.

Men’s Doubles: Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (India) deafeated Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan (Indonesia) 2-0 Scores: 21-11, 21-12

Mixed Doubles: Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy (India) lost the match played against Dejan Ferdinansyah and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja (Indonesia) 1-2

Indian shuttlers have been performing well in international tournaments, and their participation in the Badminton Asia Championships 2023 was a testament to their dedication and skills. Although not all of them emerged victorious, their efforts were commendable, and they have made their country proud. We hope to see them continue to excel in future competitions.
